Emily Dennett is a Recruitment Coach at Astute, supporting and developing recruitment talent across the business.
In Astute’s People Powered Series, she shared with Sam Bradshaw her journey to Astute, her role, and what drives her passion for coaching.
How did you get into your role at Astute?
After over 9 years in recruitment across a range of industries and regions, I was looking for a role that would let me build on my experience and help others grow in the field.
After taking a break in 2022 to have my daughter, I was ready for a position that offered that mix. That’s when Sam from Astute’s people team reached out with an ideal role as a Recruitment Coach.
The opportunity to support and shape a team in such a dynamic industry was exactly what I’d been looking for!
What do you do for Astute?
Every day is an adventure as a recruitment coach at Astute.
I work with new starters from their first day, giving them the support and tools they need to succeed.
I also help more experienced hires by offering call coaching, tailored training plans, and team mentoring to help them reach their potential.
Being able to connect with every level of the sales team gives me a front-row seat to their growth, which makes my work incredibly rewarding.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Astute?
The culture of continuous learning and support.
Training at Astute isn’t just for new hires, it’s part of everyone’s day-to-day. I work with around 15 people a day, whether it’s giving search tips, sharing tools, or providing live call feedback.
It’s a collaborative space where everyone feels encouraged to ask questions and grow together.
What have you enjoyed most about your recent projects?
One recent project that stands out was developing individualised coaching sessions for each team member’s goals.
It’s been amazing to watch people grow with these custom plans.
Seeing their confidence increase as they master new skills and techniques is what makes this job so fulfilling.
What is the most exciting thing about your role?
The variety!
One day might involve delivering a session on market insights, the next might be one-on-one feedback sessions or helping someone master a new technology.
No two days are the same, and I love that I get to support people in so many different areas.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to join Astute?
Come ready to learn and grow.
At Astute, you’ll find a supportive network where it’s okay to say, “I don’t know, but I want to learn.”
If you’re looking for a company that prioritizes your development and celebrates your achievements, Astute is the place to be.
