Having established the business from scratch back in August 2006, Terry is the man behind Astute’s success. An expert in the technical field, Terry began work as a Royal Navy Engineer specialising in Marine Engineering, eventually working on submarines with a responsibility for running a small scale “power station”. With a passion for the industry but a thirst to take on a new challenge, Terry left the Navy in 2001.
As a naturally driven individual, Terry gravitated towards the energetic and fast pace of recruitment. Astute by nature, he soon found he was playing to his strengths: utilising his technical knowledge within a sales environment. Terry spent a few years perfecting his craft within recruitment agencies before setting up Astute and has a clear vision as to how Astute will progress over the next few years. So, never one to sit still, his days are spent leading the business, making regular and ever increasingly tough strategic decisions and managing his team.
Encapsulating the ‘work hard, play hard’ ethic, Terry is a massive petrolhead. He enjoys participating in track days and one day hopes to compete in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. Terry wants to spend more time in the States, driving past the Grand Canyon in a midnight blue ’67 Mustang, and one day may attempt climbing Everest [base camp] but if he had to settle for owning a villa in Ibiza, that would be acceptable too.
