We’ve given you a small snapshot into their career history and lives outside of Astute as we recognise that not everything revolves around the workplace and having a positive work-life balance is key to personal success.
Kevin Over
Starting at Astute in 2013, Kev joined us to tackle the water market before transitioning to specialise in Power and Energy from Waste as a Recruitment Resourcer (now known as Delivery Consultants).
His first role at Astute was to find the right candidates for the right roles mainly working on contract recruitment with the odd permanent roles thrown in making Kev an all-round recruiter.
Gemma Nixon
After completing her degree in Biology at The University of Southampton, Gemma first started working in retail before deciding on a career in recruitment.
Joining in 2017, Gemma first started working on the water desk as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant, soon becoming a specialist in her field of permanent recruitment and moving into a full Recruitment Consultant role.
Arjun Patel
Graduating with a degree in Business Management from Loughborough University, Arj found that recruitment was a great career choice for him.
Arj started his recruitment career working in FMCG and supply chain recruitment in London before moving back to his Portsmouth roots and joining Astute in 2017.
Tim Norford
Tim’s career began in performing as a professional singer in a close harmony group, singing at major venues, events, cruise ships and also by royal command for Princess Anne at St James’ Palace!
Joining Astute in 2019, Tim had worked in recruitment previously and has ample experience in M&E and construction recruitment for both contract and permanent staffing.

Located at the prestigious Lakeside complex in Portsmouth, our office not only has stunning views but is also conveniently placed adjacent to the M27 and a short walk from Cosham train station.
Offering trails around the lake, relaxed meeting spaces, onsite childcare facilities and plentiful parking, our office has it all. At lunchtimes, you can visit the onsite cafes, shop, hair and beauty salons, florists – or even sample one of the Thursday pop-up food stalls! With plenty of spots and social activities on offer across the campus all year round, it’s the perfect place to work.
